The Canephorae, or honorific office of Ancient Greek basket carriers, may have carried theirs on their heads - but we decided to create baskets for around the modern home. Baskets date back to the Middle East circa 8000 BCE, where they were multi-purpose vessels with available plant life affecting the choice of material - and we pay homage to their usefulness. So we work with local California basket maker Kathleen Heafey who uses a heavy 100% natural sustainable cotton cord which she sews in an interesting coiling method. Every single one of her organic baskets is unique, with variation in stitch and size. Use and Care: Spot clean with cool water, a fresh toothbrush and a little baking soda - scrub gently and rinse well.
