Brass Cutlery Set
Major items of cutlery, or tableware, are the knife, fork and spoon. These three implements first appeared together on tables in Britain in the Georgian era - with elite society carrying their own around the world as a symbol of their wealth. In fact, the ancient Romans mostly had knives, of course, and somehow discovered spoons as a curiosity. And so we worked with Ruka Kikuchi (also known by his nickname Lue) who makes homewares out of brass in the Japanese city of Setouchi for the lives of ordinary people. His deepest hope is that every time one of his items is picked up and used, it brings great pleasure and will last for many years. His items feature unique markings, such as little scratches and hammer marks where the craftsman has been at work - which is just the way we see the world, imperfectly perfect.
Use and Care: As time progresses you'll find that this spoon will patina and darken as the metal oxidises, also reacting to the natural oils on one's hands.
