The Multi Use Planter

Commissioned exclusively for us, ceramic artist Liz Cohen has created a range of simple clay planters with a slight retro nod in our range of colors. Liz works out of her home studio in Denver, Colorado and we love her for her commitment to continuing the craft of the kiln. She has individually and carefully crafted each planter on the potter's wheel using stoneware clay and designing the pieces with thin bands of exposed, raw clay alternating with sections of colored glaze. Intentionally exposing the clay in this way allows her to subtly reference the material used to make each piece. She believes it's important to remind the user that such an overlooked and crude material can be used to make beautiful objects, not just for decoration, but also for daily use. Speaking of clay, it is a healthy environment for most plants because their porosity allows air and moisture to penetrate the sides of the pots.
